Kitchen Window Sill
Every herb garden produces aromas and smells, some of which are sweet, others sharp, and some quite pungent. But herbs grown in a windowsill herb garden specifically for their scent or aroma, will primarily be the sweet-scented type.
While you might plant some aromatic herbs in a container on a kitchen windowsill, you are more likely to choose the herbs you enjoy using fresh when you cook if you are looking at a location close to the kitchen. So a scented container herb garden will probably be more likely to find its place on a living room or even a bedroom windowsill - even though most of these herbs can also either be used for cooking or for medicinal purposes.

The most lovely thing you can do for yourself or for someone who loves herbs, is to plant your own windowsill herb garden. It is so lovely and beautiful to have herbs to watch grow, smell and use right at your fingertips. I find the best place for a windowsill herb garden is right in your kitchen window. Choose chives, basil and oregano to start. Later you can plant mint.
These are all relatively easy herbs to grow and are so useful in a variety of dishes and recipes, from spaghetti to using them in your morning omelet for breakfast. I recommend having a separate container for each herb you plant so that each herb has room to grow and even expand or propagate itself. These three herbs require the same light and watering instructions.
